Residential Aide: Food Handler Certification & CPR

The Children’s Rescue Fund’s core purpose is to serve the homeless population with the services required to assist and empower them to become independent. This in turn will transition them into becoming self-sufficient, motivated and productive citizens to obtain permanent housing as well as ensuring their children’s rights to education and healthcare.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete new resident Intake arrival packets, exits logs, daily occupancy forms.
  • Review, Nightly Attendance Roaster Incident reports.
  • Receive food deliveries and confirm items received/receipts for accuracy by signing and dating form.
  • Distribute meals to residents and dispose of expired food items as outlined by DHS’ Food Distribution Guidelines.
  • Monitor logs to ensure clients are signing the Daily Attendance Roster when entering and exiting the facility.
  • Provide clients access to rooms and assist in the facilitation and completion of room transfers/swaps. Keep mandates by cleaning office space..
  • Collaborate with on-site Shift Supervisor to ensure a safe environment for all staff and clients.
  • Conduct hourly rounds of the facility to ensure all room doors are secured, clients’ personal belongings are secured.
  • Immediately alert medical staff and immediate supervisor of clients found in distress.
  • Review with Shift Supervisor all paperwork and logs completed during previous shift before the end of tour.
  • Ensure all clean and ready units have clean linens and towels. Alert maintenance team of items needed.
  • Complete and submit all paperwork (daily occupancy, exit logs, meal census, NSR, new intake, curfew violations, incidents etc.).
  • Serve breakfast 8:00am to 10:00am, lunch 12:00pm to 2:00pm, and dinner 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
  • Finalize Night Signature Roster (NSR) in CARES.
  • Ensure new logs for the month are in place.
  • Receive and log incoming meals usually at 6:00am
  • Deliver mail on the 8:00am to 4:00pm shift.
  • Clock in where appropriate using the time clock system sign-in via the onsite logbook.
  • Must be available for overtime when business needs are required.
  • Physically check all unoccupied units to determine status (ready, repairs needed, needs cleaning).
  • Required to work additional shifts to ensure coverage when staff is out of the office for various reasons.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • MUST have an unexpired Food Handler Certification or can obatin one within 30 days hire
  • A valid NYS security license is a plus.
  • Two years’ experience in Single Adult Shelters and/or Congregate Residential Services.
  • Experience working with families / homeless population.
  • Must have incredible initiative, the ability to work well under pressure, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to complete complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency with proficiency in Word, Excel, and the ability to learn new technologies and databases.
